Product Information
What material is used to manufacture Orac Decor® products?
Orac Decor® products are made from high-quality polymer materials. These combine the durability, ease of processing, and quality of synthetic materials with the aesthetic appearance of wood or plaster. Technical information about our materials can be found in the description of each product.
Can Orac Decor® products be used outdoors?
Products made from Purotouch® and Duropolymer® materials are suitable for outdoor use, but products made from Durofoam® are not. It is important that you use DecoFix Power as the mounting adhesive and DecoFix Extra adhesive for seams. After installation, the products must be painted with a weather-resistant paint.
How long is the adhesive shelf life?
The adhesive has a shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacture, which is printed on the packaging.
What fire resistance class do the standard products from Orac Decor have?
Our standard products fall into fire protection class E, which means they are flammable and continue to burn without extinguishing on their own.
What heat resistance do our products have?
Our products are heat resistant up to a temperature of 70 °C.
Can the products be treated with fire-retardant paint?
Yes, our products can be treated with fire-retardant paint. There are different types of these special paints, such as AL20 (Aithon). For more information, we are happy to assist you.
Do the products improve the acoustics of a room?
Our 3D wall coverings (W108-W109-W110) absorb up to 25% of conversational noise, perfectly complementing the acoustic properties of most common building materials. With ORAC profiles, you can optimize room acoustics and reduce echoes. Acoustic reports are available upon request, and you can find the acoustic certificates here.
Do the Orac Decor® products contribute to thermal insulation?
By using well-insulating materials, our 3D wall cladding profiles (W108-W109-W110) have comparable insulating properties to standard insulation boards of the same thickness. Therefore, our profiles not only contribute to the aesthetic enhancement of a room but also help stabilize room temperatures.
Installation
How is the installation of the products carried out?
The installation of Orac Decor® products is a simple process, provided you follow the installation instructions carefully and use the appropriate adhesives. Feel free to also check out our installation videos.
Can Orac Decor® products be easily painted?
Yes, almost all of our products are primed and have a matte surface, making them ready for the final coat. We recommend using water-based paints. If you wish to use other types of paint, a test coating beforehand is advisable. We do not take any responsibility for the result after processing.
How do I best treat joints?
For flawless joints, Orac Decor® offers a special seam adhesive, DecoFix Extra. After two strips have been glued with DecoFix Extra, they should be pressed firmly together. Excess adhesive is immediately removed with a spatula. After about 20 minutes, the remaining adhesive is removed again, the joint is lightly sanded, and can then be processed with filler paste.
How can adhesive residues be removed?
– DecoFix Pro (for porous surfaces indoors): remove immediately with water.
– DecoFix Power (for all surfaces indoors and outdoors): remove immediately with soapy solution or cleaning cloth.
– DecoFix Extra (for perfect joints): remove after 20 minutes with spatula and acetone, thinner, or cleaning cloth.
Can the products from Orac Decor® also be applied to already painted surfaces?
Yes, that is possible. It is important that the painted surface is clean, dry, and free of grease. Additionally, the adhesion of the paint must be ensured. Loose paint residues and dirt should be sanded off beforehand.
Can the products also be mounted on wallpapers?
It is best to remove the wallpaper before applying the products. If that is not possible, use DecoFix Power as the adhesive for mounting the Orac Decor® products.
What do I do with leftover profiles after installation?
If you have any undamaged, complete profiles left after installation, you can read our return policy to find out how to send them back to us. Leftover Duropolymer® after installation can be disposed of at your next recycling center along with other "hard plastics." These will then be converted into recyclable granulate, which can be reused.
Indirect lighting
What aspects should be considered when processing profiles for indirect lighting?
When working with profiles designed for the installation of light sources, please consider the following points: Use LED strips or LED bars. When working with profiles from the "Compact Design Lighting" series as well as with flexible ("F" marked) profiles and a combination of hard and flexible profiles, it is necessary to apply aluminum adhesive tape or aluminum foil before installing the LED strip to prevent possible "light bleeding." Alternatively, the inside of the profile can be pre-painted with a tinted, opaque paint before assembly. If you have any uncertainties or questions, you can always contact our customer service at info@dekormaison.com.
Does dekormaison also offer lighting systems?
No, dekormaison only sells the moldings and adhesives. However, you can obtain all the necessary lighting elements from your lighting dealer.
Are aluminum holders necessary for the LEDs?
Aluminum holders are only needed if you want to use the strips as downlighting. For Duropolymer® profiles (CX references), we recommend using aluminum holders to prevent light from shining through the material. This is not necessary for Purotouch® profiles, as light cannot shine through the material here.
Should I buy 12- or 24-volt LED strips?
12-volt strips are usually the cheaper option, but 24-volt strips often provide a more uniform light output along the entire LED strip.
What is the maximum temperature resistance of Orac Decor® profiles in combination with lighting elements?
Orac Decor® moldings can withstand temperatures of up to 70 °C.
Can the strips also be installed with downward-facing lighting?
Yes, that is certainly possible. For the installation of downward-facing LED bars, first attach an aluminum angle, into which the LED bars can then simply be clipped.
